12/1/2014 Update:

"Finny" experienced her first family camp-out Thanksgiving weekend at Robber’s Cave State Park in Oklahoma. Her foster family learned she is in her element on the hiking trail never walking too far ahead through rocky and rugged terrain without keeping an eye on you and running back when called. She would make a dreamy partner for the trail runner. Around camp she kept busy honing her new swimming skills, playing ball/stick, and wrestling with her foster brother. In the evening she would relax beside the warm campfire at your feet. At night she keeps her family warm as she finds the smallest spot on the sleeping bag to occupy and didn’t make the slightest of sounds through the night to disturb any other nearby campers.

She is an A+++ family outdoor activity dog.

She’s all about you…will you be all about her?

Her picture shows off her deep butter-toffee color and accentuates her soulful eyes and gentle personality.

Finny is looking for human companion(s) to bond to and to be a part of a family – it will break her heart to be an ‘outside dog’ isolated and ignored by the humans she desperately wants to love.

She wants to be in your presence at all times whether you’re cooking in the kitchen, watching football on the couch, reading a book in bed, or outside performing yard work, she will be close by napping in between watching you.

She potties outside quickly just so she can use her nose to push the door open to let herself back inside just so she can find you again and try to convince you she’s small enough to be a lap dog or give her something off your plate. She’s at a loss when left alone in the backyard. She’ll either stand at the backdoor looking for you or scratch vigorously at the gate if you left her behind. So Finny should never be made an outside dog again!

Finny is good with little dogs, other big dogs, and even gentle with lap cats. She’s not food possessive, and will repeatedly give up her bone to a much smaller step-sister without any complaint. She seems to like some toys including a ball, but the game grows old pretty quickly for her.

Finny’s more calm than some dogs of her breed and has good house manners. She’s working on her basic commands like sitting and is responsive while walking off leash. She’s growing more comfortable resting in a crate during the workday and is most content resting near you or with her head in your hands for a cheek massage.

With a few months of good nutrition and exercise, she’s going to fill out properly to her estimated 75 pounds, and her coat will be as shiny as a Christmas ornament.

Finny is just waiting to meet you and show you what she's all about!
