Wire-haired Pointing Griffon : : Male : : Young : : Medium
Dominick is one cute love bug - given an opportunity this boy wants to be close to his people! Dominick came to us with a broken leg but it is almost 100% healed he has a few activity restriction for another couple of weeks like no jumping off of things and no going for runs yet, but he is free to play with his friends and chase squirrels to his hearts delight! Dominick is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon...we like to call "Griffs" and his ideal home will have breed or similar breed experience, like WPG, GWPs, Drathars, or Spinones. Domi is young and energetic and it is likely he was kept outdoors as a pup, which might explain how he escaped and was hit by a car - OUCH! Being injured has given him the opportunity to learn that inside is warm and cozy and full of snuggle opportunities, and that crates are pretty okay places. But like young dogs he is still refining his house manners and will need a home to continue his training with patience and guidance. He is very birdie and while this may or may not equate to huntability, it does mean he will need training and opportunities to stimulate his drives accompanied by appropriate off leash containment or control. He is a sensitive boy and requires a soft hand and instruction, no need for raised voices or heavy hands here...a firm but fair redirect work perfectly for this boy and will ensure he listens and also respects you without fear. If you are interested in Dominick and believe you are a well qualified candidate please let us know and we will arrange a call to discuss his needs and yours! Update 2/1/2015: "Whoohoo!!! I'm free"...we are sure Domi woofed aloud as he left the vets office without another cast. He has been a wonderful patient and wonderfully patient with the process. He will be available to start meeting his long list of prospective families this week. Update 1/5/2015: This boy is one fast healer. He has done an awesome job of following doctors orders and we expect that he may be released from his cast as early as this week. He will still have some activity limitations for a short while, but he will be able to play and be more active. Dominick enjoys his foster friends and chasing squirrels, watching birds and being loved on. Stay tuned for more Dominick coming soon!
